Crocosaurus Cove is situated in Darwin’s CBD – a short walk from the Darwin Convention Centre. Allows visitors a unique , up close and personal view of Australia’s iconic saltwater crocodiles. You can swim with the crocs, fish with the crocs, view the crocs & have your picture taken while holding a baby ‘saltie’. View the barramundi and turtles in the saltwater aquarium. Croc Cove also houses the world’s largest display of Australian reptiles.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service is affectionately known throughout Australia as the RFDS. Founded by the Reverend John Flynn, it began its aero medical operations in the NT in 1939. The Visitor Centre on Stokes Wharf displays the history and the activities of the RFDS’s pilots, engineers, doctors and nurses, and the experiences of the patients that are carried and cared for each day. See, experience and learn through the wonder of technology as this facility brings history to life including 2 x virtual reality stories, life size holograms and the Pilatus PC 12 aircraft simulator.
As the sun sets into the Arafura Sea, most of Darwin descends onto Mindil Beach. Food is the main attraction – Thai, Indian, Malaysian, Greek, Portuguese and more. Try crocodile or camel. Colourful arts and crafts abound, perfect for souvenirs. Shop, watch a fire show, have a massage, be entertained,You will be given Mindil Money to spend how you wish during the evening. Buses will depart from Darwin Convention Centre from 4:30pm and will begin the return journey to the DCC at 8:30pm.
The National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre is a key element of the Australian Government's disaster and emergency medical response to incidents of national and international significance.Established as a result of the 2002 Bali Bombings, the NCCTRC is strategically positioned to ensure Australia has the best readily deployable medical workforce to rapidly respond to sudden health emergencies both onshore across Australia, and offshore throughout South East Asia.Funded by the Australian Government, the NCCTRC is focused on enhancing Australia’s capacity to provide clinical and academic leadership in disaster and trauma care. The NCCTRC prepares Australian clinicians for deployment and local emergencies, through its unique education and training programs, training over 700 doctors, nurses and health logisticians to a national standard as medical disaster responders.As well as ensuring Australia has the best readily deployable medical workforce, the NCCTRC also maintains a fully equipped rapidly deployable field hospital that has an inpatient facility, operating tables, full resuscitation and an outpatient capability.Within the Northern Territory, the NCCTRC invests in building the trauma, critical care and surge capacity of the Royal Darwin Hospital to ensure it is prepared and equipped to respond to sudden onset disasters in the region, and it works closely with Northern Territory emergency management stakeholders to support a Territory wide health emergency response.
