The Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) delivers outcomes in cotton research, development and extension (RD&E) for the Australian cotton industry. A partnership between the Commonwealth Government and cotton growers, CRDC invests in world-leading RD&E to benefit Australia’s dynamic cotton industry, and the wider community. The Northern Territory Farmers Association (NT Farmers) is the peak body representing plant industries across the Northern Territory.We work in partnership with many organisations to share information, represent and advocate for our growers and discuss key industry issues. We also provide Grower agronomic and compliance advice; training; on farm engagement, member briefings, demonstrations and updates; regular publications; community group secretariat and financial management; industry promotional campaigns, research, development and extension and value adding.Horticulture in the Northern Territory has been identified as a growth sector, and NT Farmers have been tasked with the promotion and development of the industry across the NT with an emphasis on regional areas. 

Regional Development Australia Northern Territory (RDA NT) is a local not-for-profit concerned with supporting the sustainable development of the Northern Territory.

We work to identify and facilitate diverse projects that contribute towards this broad objective. We use the power of partnerships, across three tiers of government, industry, and other not-for-profits, to maximise our impact.

RDA NT is part of a national network of 53 RDAs. This network is an initiative of the Australian Government, overseen by the Federal Minister for Regional Development through the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development. RDA NT also partners closely with the Northern Territory Government. 

RDA NT is led by a committee comprised of representatives from across the Territory, thereby allowing local people to develop local solutions to local issues. The Committee is supported by a small team of staff.


The Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) supports the grains industry through investing in research, development and extension (RD&E) to create enduring profitability for Australian growers. 

The GRDC invests over $198 million in around 700 RD&E initiatives to create enduring profitability for Australian grain growers across a broad range of research. The GRDC’s investments deliver results and aim to continually break new ground for growers.

As a research-for-development agency, the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) faces the intersecting and complex challenges of how to grow more food, improve human nutrition and reduce poverty using less land, water and energy. ACIAR works with partner countries to identify research priorities, and then to broker research partnerships and commission research projects. After a project is established, ACIAR monitors progress and outcomes throughout the project cycle to maximise impact and return on investment. By facilitating collaborative international partnerships between public and private research institutions, ACIAR provides a vehicle for Australia to strategically contribute to poverty reduction and improved livelihoods in developing countries throughout the Indo–Pacific.

Hort Innovation is the grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australia’s horticulture industry. Our primary function is to create value for horticulture growers and those across the horticulture supply chain. This specialisation aims to develop the knowledge and capabilities required in advisory practices and in the policies, leadership and management of successful innovation and change programs.  The specialization will also prepare new entrants to the sector for a successful career in a field with growing demand. Co-developed with industry leaders, the specialization begins in 2020.
