In its fifteenth year, the Annual NTCA & Elders Amateur Photography Competition continues to be a highly anticipated event during the NTCA Conference & Gala Dinner. This esteemed competition has established itself as a highlight, showcasing the incredible talent of amateur photographers within the cattle industry.
We are thrilled to announce that all competition entries will be proudly displayed at the NTCA Annual Industry Conference on March 20 & 21, 2024. This provides a unique opportunity for attendees to appreciate the exceptional visual storytelling captured by the photographers. The winners of the competition will be unveiled during the prestigious NTCA Gala Dinner.

Intended to show different locations within the NT, showing little or no human activity, using subjects as landforms, weather or ambient light.

This category pays homage to the rich heritage of the Northern Territory's cattle industry. Photographs should capture the essence of the region's pastoral history, showcasing the hardworking individuals, iconic landscapes, and the symbiotic relationship between humans, livestock, and the land. Entries can feature mustering scenes, working dogs, traditional stockmen practices, or any other visual representation that celebrates the deep-rooted traditions and heritage of the cattle industry in the Northern Territory.
By introducing the "Pastoral Heritage" category, we aim to connect with the conference theme, by embracing the fundamental essence of the cattle industry. This category serves as a tribute to the pioneers, the resilience of the land, and the enduring spirit of the Northern Territory's pastoral community.
The People’s Choice Award is the major prize of the competition and is judged by the attendees, from all entries in the above three categories, to be the overall favourite of the competition.
Your photograph/s will not only provide a backdrop for the forthcoming 39th NTCA Annual Industry Conference in Alice Springs, they will illustrate our unique outback lifestyle and the distinctive Northern Territory people and landscape.
