GenOffGrid BBQ Lunch and Moontide Distillery Tasting Experience

A new addition to the 2022 Conference Program is an informative, yet relaxed afternoon with a BBQ lunch and facility tour at GenOffGrid, which can conclude with either a distillery tour and tasting at Broome’s iconic Moontide Distillery, or a visit to the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Skuthorpe Irrigated Fodder Cropping Trials.

The GenOffGrid tour will include detailed information on the design, manufacturing and remote monitoring of Standalone Off-Grid Power Systems and a demonstration of the latest robot technology for the cleaning of Solar Panels.

There will also be a live demonstration with “Fire Stryker” a new generation fire inhibitor that is revolutionising the fire prevention industry and proving to have endless possibilities when it comes to protecting and saving livestock, homesteads, vehicles/machinery, and more importantly lives. This is a demonstration you will not want to miss!

Then, you can choose one of two options for the remainder of your afternoon;

Option 1: Enjoy a relaxing tasting experience and tour through Moontide Gin Distillery, conveniently located just next door to GenOff Grid.

Option 2: You are invited to join Chris Ham, senior development officer with the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), who has been working with irrigated agriculture in the West Kimberley and North Pilbara for more than a decade, for a visit and tour of the Skuthorpe Irrigated Fodder Cropping Trials (about 15 minutes’ drive).

A bus will be provided to take delegates from the Broome Civic Centre to GenOffGrid, as well as collect you from GenOffGrid to go to the Broome Fishing Club for the Watertorque Welcome Drinks from 5pm. The bus schedule will be released soon

2022 Guest Speakers

The Mongol Derby is the world’s toughest and longest endurance horse race. A grueling 1000km multi horse race, self navigated through the Mongolian steppe on semi wild horses.

Lifelong friends Jess and Nat spent two years training together, testing their gear, fundraising and even travelling intestate to ride endurance races for extra experience.

Their race plan was to stick together, ride 120km a day, finish on day 8, avoid marmot holes and not get sick. Rock solid, simple plan.

That plan lasted 40km and three hours into Day One.. Join Jess and Nat as they share the highs and lows of their 10 days in the steppe, from sleeping in sheep sheds, falling down marmot holes and a bout of gastro, there were fast horses and slow horses, there were moments of pure joy and the moments that almost broke them.
