Emeritus Professor Deborah Theodoros AO is a retired academic speech pathologist and former head of the Division of Speech Pathology at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Professor Theodoros has extensive research experience in the assessment and treatment of progressive and nonprogressive motor speech disorders and has also led a research program in telerehabilitation. She has been a pioneer in the use of technology to enhance the rehabilitation process following traumatic brain injury, stroke, Parkinsons Disease, and other neurological conditions. Professor Theodoros has been involved with the MJD Foundation since 2008 in the assessment and management of the communication disorders associated with MJD. She is a member of the MJD Research Advisory Committee. Her achievements were recognised in the 2024 Australia Day honours with an Officer of Australia Award for distinguished service to community health, to rehabilitation sciences, and to tertiary education.
